Doug Snow studied at Cranbrook Academy of Fine Arts, Columbia University, and the University of Utah. He was in Rome at the Academy of Fine Arts on a Fulbright Grant in 1950- 1951. A member of the University of Utah art department from 1954 until 1994, he was its chairman from 1965 to 1971. He is highly regarded as one of Utah’s leading modern painters and as an influential teacher. Snow is noted for his large, vivid and expressive abstractions of desert landscapes, light and weather. Snow spent his later years in Torrey, Utah near Capitol Reef National Park.
