Maryon was a highly regarded Utah painter who joined the University of Utah faculty the year after earning his MFA degree from that school in 1956, remaining there until his retirement. He was for some time chairman of the department and later dean of the College of Fine Arts. Maryon is best known for stylized landscape and rural subjects in watercolor.
