Printmaker and watercolor painter and teacher Judith McConkie, a native of Provo, Utah, set out to be an artist while an undergraduate at Brigham Young University. She married and taught English and art in Utah’s public schools. Later, she studied printmaking at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C., and, after a time at the University of Utah, with Wulf Barsch at Brigham Young University where she completed her MFA degree. In 1999, she was awarded a Ph.D. in art history from the University of Utah. Prior to retirement McConkie was variously the Curator of the Utah State Capitol Building, Senior Educator at BYU’s Museum of Art, and director of the Kimball Art Center in Park City, Utah.
