Anton Jesse Rasmussen was well known for his somewhat abstract, high chroma murals and very large paintings of Utah’s red rock desert. He studied at the University of Utah (MFA, 1974), and was the first director of the Bountiful-Davis Art Center. Rasmussen has executed other large public murals, including a series at the Salt Lake International Airport. Rasmussen also contributed to the community as an educator. He taught painting as an adjunct at the University of Utah, continued teaching at Utah State University, and in the 1980s, headed the art department at what was then Southern Utah State College.
