Lucille Harman Olpin grew up in American Fork, Utah, but was a professional portrait and landscape painter, and a landscape designer in the San Francisco Bay area for most of her life. She was also, not incidentally, the mother of the late Utah art historian, author and university professor Robert Olpin. She studied art (and nursing) at both Brigham Young University and the University of Utah.
