Donated by the Nation of Greece to Salt Lake City in honor of the 2002 Winter Olympics, Prometheus was temporarily placed in the 500 West park blocks, near the location where many Olympic ceremonies and events took place. In 2003 the sculpture was relocated to a park specifically designed to commemorate the Olympic experience, to ensure the sculpture was welcomed and appropriately included as an integral part of that commemorative effort, with full support from the community.
