Sunrise through Clouds

Farnsworth studied painting in both New York City and Paris, and worked in her Salt Lake studio until 1960. She won a place in the Paris Salon with a portrait in 1904, and later became one of Utah’s most “modernist” painters. She was among a small group of Utah artists (Calvin Fletcher, Henri Moser, Ev Thorpe, Calvin Barkdull) whose work from the 1920s to 1940s was expressionistic, with strong and vibrant brushwork, texture and color.
