Untitled

The work is a 17′ vertical oil on canvas on board painting with an earth tone vertical shape rising through one -half of the height. This shape changes into a vertical broad white line with small horizontal bars across culminating in a white orb. This is all framed by white & blue arch on grey background.

This work was commissioned in 1975 for the Pioneer Memorial Theater on the campus of the University of Utah. In approximately 1990 the work was removed from the Pioneer Memorial Theater lobby after significant remodeling into the main corridor of the A. Ray Olpin University Union on the University of Utah campus. In 2003, facing a remodel in the Olpin Union, the work was transferred to the Utah Arts Council’s Public Art Program for placement into the lobby of the newly completed Utah State Archives Building in Salt Lake City. The painting underwent considerable cleaning and restoration shortly after installation.
