Mandi Barrus, mezzo-soprano, is known for her versatility of performance, with credits in art music, musical theater, and opera both regionally and abroad. Mandi’s 2022 season included the world premiere of Arnold’s The Bitter Price with NEXT Ensemble, Judy Shepard (Considering Matthew Shepard) with Salt Lake Choral Artists, and Signora Naccarelli (Light in the Piazza) at Hale Centre Theatre. She was the alto soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria with Salt Lake Symphony and in Handel’s Messiah with Holladay Messiah. In addition to performing a concert series of music by living composers with NEXT Ensemble, Mandi’s 2023 season has included Dinah in Trouble in Tahiti in Texas; Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus in California; Singer 6 in Twice Through the Heart and Prince Charming in The Cinderella Project with Opera Contempo in SLC. A winner of SLC Art Council’s Artist Career Empowerment Grant, Mandi holds a Master of Music from the University of Utah. Mandi’s next performances will include Artemis in Protectress with Opera Contempo (November 17, 2023) and Faure’s Requiem with St Paul’s Episcopal Church.
