Call for Community Mural Artist

Moab Arts is searching for an artist to design and facilitate a community ‘paint by number’ style mural to be installed during our 2024 Red Rock Arts Festival. The mural design should fit the theme chosen for the 2024 festival, Ripples and Reflections - Water’s Transformative Impact on Community. This mural will follow alongside Mill Creek for 90 feet adjacent to the walking path under the Main Street bridge. Our goal is to create a family friendly outline that community members of varying ages will be able to contribute to regardless of previous art experience.

Our expectations for the artist:

Design a ‘paint by number’ style mural to be painted by community members that is family friendly and accessible to people of all ages and abilities
Outline and label the design prior to the community installation day
Paint any part of the mural over 8 feet high
Facilitate community participation on the day of the festival
Retouch, finish, and seal the mural after the community event
Applications will be accepted from May 1, 2024 through May 31, 2024. The Festival will take place September 27-29, 2024. Artists will be notified by the end of July if their design has been chosen. Email all required application documents to marcadmin@moabcity.org by midnight (MT) on May 31, 2024.

Required Application Materials: Name & contact info, proposed design, artist bio/statement, proposed project budget (includes labor and materials, max of $8,000), 2-4 examples of past work.
