2020 USA Climbing: Sport & Speed Open National Championships -CANCELLED

The Front Climbing Club and USA Climbing are excited to share that the 2020 USA Climbing: Sport & Speed Open National Championships will be hosted by The Front Climbing Club at its newest location in the Town of Millcreek on March 13 and 14, 2020.

This event will peel back the curtain on The Front’s long awaited third gym on South Main in Millcreek. Comp participants will be the first to climb on the gym’s walls and attendees will get a first look of the space before it officially opens to members and guests.

Including more than 100 climbers from across the country, Sport & Speed Open Nationals have no Olympic implications but will help determine members of the U.S. National Team who will compete internationally on the World Cup circuit this year.

Sport and speed climbing are two of three disciplines that will make up the combined event for the Tokyo Games. Speed climbing is performed on pre-set routes in which climbers must ascend a vertical wall as fast as possible. Sport climbing is performed on vertical and overhanging walls in which competitors must get as high as possible without falling on technically difficult routes that are different in every competition. Those who complete both as efficiently as possible will advance to the next round.

The Sport & Speed Open National Championships are open to all USA Climbing Competitor Members provided they are 16 years of age or older. Competitors may register for Sport Only, Speed Only or Sport & Speed – the registration fee is a single price regardless of discipline(s) selected during registration.
