8th Annual Story Crossroads Summit & Festival: The Hybrid

Join in-person and/or for the celebration of multi-generational and multicultural oral storytelling and learning.

Story Crossroads is the culminating event of selected youth, adult, and senior tellers in the Salt Lake Valley as well as featuring performers that merge song, dance, and visual arts with storytelling. ASL available.

State of the Art Addresses from Jewish, Muslim, and Deaf communities from 8:00pm-9:00pm

May 9, 2023 - Performance Day

Three Pavilions at the same time of performances of professional story artists and youth (K-12th grade) to older adult community tellers in morning with sessions at 9:30am, 10:30am, and 11:30am. One Pavilion in the evening with sessions at 7:00pm and 8:00pm. ASL for all sessions.

May 10, 2023 - Virtual Field Trip Day

Pre-recordings available to view from 7am MDT and onward to June 15, 2023 - includes TAHIRA from Delaware, Norm Brecke from Oregon, Lynn Wing, Julie Barnson, Carol Esterreicher, Clive Romney, and premiere of youth and older adult community tellers. ASL for all films. Virtual/Computer - unlisted YouTube playlist to ticketholders.

May 11, 2023 - Academic Day

"Language of Story: Tongan" with Dr. Tevita Ka'ili - live-streamed on Story Crossroads YouTube channel for free and open to all, able to ask questions

"Story Education Bites" with Dr. Delanna Reed with "Immersed in Performance" as well as Dr. John Alba Cutler with "Latinx literature, Storytelling, and The House on Mango Street"

Teachers! Stories Do Work workshop taught by Nannette Watts - focusing on helping teachers with storytelling - Zoom link shared with anyone upon free registration
