Carving for Block Printing

The Brighton Institute is well-known for its block printing booth at the Wasatch Wildflower Festival and Brighton Days. Join local artist and art educator Carolyn Keigley for a one-day class to learn how to design and carve your own block for block printing. Create a block for your own holiday cards or express your creative whimsy for a unique piece of art!

Class size is limited to 16 people. Ages 18 and up. Registration is $3.00 to cover the cost of the block. Donations are encouraged to help pay for the carving tools, paper and ink.

Materials supplied by the Brighton Institute: soft linoleum block 4″ x 6″, tracing paper, carving tools, ink and printing tools (brayer, baren and paper)

Materials students need to bring to class: a drawing sketchbook of any size and photos of ideas for your print. These photos need to be no larger than 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. If in doubt, the teacher will help you in your selection or ideas.
