Film Screening of Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat

Southeastern Utah’s iconic landscape has been synonymous with the mythic American West since 1939 thanks to filmmakers like John Ford, but what will the legacy of the West and “John Ford Country” look like in the future?  How will our interpretation of the West change or evolve with the development of AI, space travel, and other futuristic technologies?  We’ll dive neck-deep into the West of the Future with 1989’s Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat.  The movie was filmed in Arches, Hittle Bottom, and Thompson, and stars 9-year-old Moab local Vanessa Pierson alongside David Carradine and John Ireland.
