Films on Food at Farms

Join Slow Food Utah, Plant Based Utah, Roots Charter High School, and the Utah Film Center for the first Films on Food at Farms! We’ll be screening Food for the Rest of Us at Roots Charter High School (2250 S 1300 W, West Valley City, Utah 84119). Farm tours start at 6:30 pm, and the film will begin at sundown (about 7:30 pm). Run time is 83 minutes.

You may bring your own food or you can preorder a custom Picnic Box from Urban Pioneer Cafe. Chef Brooke Woffinden is a Slow Food Snail of Approval Award Winner known for comfort food rooted in global traditions. For this event, the flavors are inspired by Mediterranean cuisine and the late summer harvest. Each picnic box serves 2 for $25 and will be delivered to Roots Charter High School at 6:30 pm prior to the film.

All items are vegan with the exception of the cucumber raita. Items include smoky babaganoush, cucumber raita, split pea/garbanzo falafel and salad based on fresh ingredients and the chef’s whim. Place your order no later than Sunday, September 25 at the link here and pay via venmo. Any trash must be taken out with you.

Food for the Rest of Us will examine how getting back to the land is tied to other movements such as Black Lives Matter, Idle No More and Times Up. Food for the Rest of Us is a feature film that presents 4 stories of people living life on their own terms, serving as leaders and role models who are lending their voice to the underdog and leading a revolution to a better world, from the ground up!
