Kintsugi Healing Group - Single Session

Has grief and loss broken open your heart? Grief can come in many forms such as loss of a loved one, divorce, life transitions, loss of community, and even loss of our sense of self.  Markay Nelson, LCSW will guide you through the Kintsugi art process as a metaphor for our grief.  We will share stories as we break and mend our bowl to bring more beauty, strength, and resilience to our grief journey.

All supplies included but feel free to bring an item to repair if you would like.

Kintsugi (金継ぎ, “golden joinery”), also known as kintsukuroi (金繕い, “golden repair”), is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum; the method is similar to the maki-e technique. As a philosophy, it treats breakage  and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise (Source: “Kintsugi.” Wikipedia).

Kintsugi will be held in Room 111, The Art Room, at the Columbus Center Opportunity Center (Co-op), located at 2530 South 500 East, South Salt Lake, UT  84115.
