In this exhibit, students at M. Lynn Bennion and Newman Elementary explore the history of neon signs – most created by the Young Electric Sign Company and found throughout Salt Lake City and the West.
Students have studied the commercial purpose of signs, how they are made, and how they add to the character of our cities and towns. We are also celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Young Electric Sign Company, founded in 1920 in Ogden Utah. The 4th, 5th and 6th Grade students have approached their art with this essential question: "What signs are important to you as you travel around Salt Lake City?"
