Red Rock Dance Festival 2023

The Red Rock Dance Festival, produced by St. George Dance Company, is a 4 day event with several components you won’t want to miss! The festival will inspire participants through a Choreographic Competition, a 3 day intensive workshop, the Red Rock ScreenDance Film Festival, a special performance by the Artists in Residence: Vitacca Ballet, and the Choreographic Showcase Finals to wrap it all up!

The Choreographic Competition invites choreographers to present their work on the beautiful Eccles MainStage to receive feedback from our adjudicators. This year, we are so excited to have Kelly Ann Vitacca, Garrett Smith, and Tamara Dyke Compton as our adjudicators and guest instructors. There is a $500 cash prize available for the judges choice and audience choice categories.

Dancers between age 9 and working professionals are invited to attend three days of workshop classes with guest teachers from the Artists in Residence company, Vitacca Ballet, the adjudicators and other dance educators. Each division (Professional, Advanced, Intermediate, and Junior) will take technique classes in Modern, Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet, Improvisation and Composition. Each division will also have the chance to learn repertoire from either Vitacca Ballet or the St. George Dance Company and perform at the Showcase Finals at the end of the festival. Additionally, participants will receive tickets to the Showcase finals, one screening of the Red Rock ScreenDance festival and the Artists in Residence performance.

Vitacca Ballet will be performing select works from their 2023 season on Friday June 2nd for the festival adudience followed by a Q&A panel. Tickets to this performance will also be offered to the public.

The Red Rock ScreenDance Film Festival, not in it’s third year brings dance films from all around the world to be presented in 5 blocks. Cash prizes are also available for Best Overall, Best Dance Film Edit, and Best Student Dance Film. The winning films will also be presented at the Showcase Finals.
