Set in Western territory just after the turn of the century, the high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a fetching but feisty farm girl, play out their love story. With these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love’s journey is as bumpy as a surrey with the fringe on top ridin’ down a country road. Throw in Ado Annie, the girl who “cain’t say no” to two fellers – brawny but brainless Will Parker and the persuasive Persian peddler Ali Hakim – and you’ve got “Oh what a beautiful….evening” that will put you in a fer sure state of musical happiness.
