Signature Books Poetry Night

TKE is partnering with Signature Books for a special poetry night, featuring local poets Darlene Young and Maureen Clark. They will be in conversation with current Utah Poet Laureate Lisa Bickmore.

This event is open to the public and will take place at Signature Books. Join us for a night of poetry reading and discussion!

Darlene Young, in addition to publishing in numerous literary magazines, has published two previous collections: Here (BCC Press, 2023), and Homespun and Angel Feathers (BCC Press, 2019), which won the Association for Mormon Letters Award for poetry. She is the recipient of the Smith-Pettit Foundation Award for Outstanding Contribution to Mormon Letters and teaches writing at Brigham Young University. She has served as poetry editor of Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought and Segullah. Her work has been noted in Best American Essays and nominated for Pushcart Prizes. She lives in South Jordan, Utah.

Maureen Clark is a writer and poet living in Bountiful, Utah. She has recently retired from the University of Utah where she taught writing for twenty years. During that time, she spent four years as the director of the University Writing Center. She received her BFA at Westminster College in 1995 and her MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Utah in 2003. She was the president of Writers @ Work from 1999–2001. Her poems have appeared in numerous journals, including Gettysburg Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, Bellingham Review, Colorado Review, Southeast Review, and Sugarhouse Review.
