Utah Pollinator Pursuit - Be Apart of Conserving Alta's Pollinators

Join Alta Community Enrichment, Alta Environmental Center, and Wild Utah Project and learn how to conserve Alta’s Pollinators. The western bumble bee (Bombus occidentalis) was once the most common species of bumble bee in western North America, yet their populations have plummeted in recent years. Bumble bees tend to live in higher altitudes and cooler habitats – like Alta, Utah!

In order to protect and create habitat for these pollinators, we need to know what habitat they are currently using. You can help us collect this information while you are out enjoying the outdoors, with just a few entries into a phone App! Ecologist Janice Gardner will teach you about Alta’s pollinator species and how to get involved in the Utah Pollinator Pursuit. You will also learn about Alta Environmental Center’s efforts to conserve and restore habitat in Alta.

Janice Gardner is a Certified Wildlife Biologist® and ecologist at Wild Utah Project. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the natural resources sector and is passionate about the conservation of wildlife – including birds and bees – in the west.
