Writing From the Land Workshop

Spark your creativity, hone your writing skill, and interact with experienced faculty in an unparalleled setting near Capitol Reef National Park!  The workshop offers instruction from well-known writers, editors, and publishers; readings by faculty and participants; manuscript consultations; panel discussions, and informative presentations by experienced professionals in the field.

Here’s a taste of a few of our instructors. James A. McLaughlin author of Panther Gap and Bearskin, winner of the 2019 Edgar Award for Best First Novel. Phyllis Barber, is an award-winning author of ten books and numerous essays and short stories. Her work is primarily about the West, the desert,and Mormonism. She writes about the jagged, unpredictable edges of the lives and circumstances of her subjects. Jedediah Rodgers, is the American West acquisitions editor for the University of Utah Press. As an author and environmental and public historian, his interest is in the intersection of land, culture, and religion in the American West.
