The Italian Center of the West was incorporated as a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization on December 3, 2003. It was the dream of several people in the Salt Lake community to provide a cultural outreach and education forum on the Italian civilization. Through the efforts and generosity of many volunteers this dream became reality.
As a non-profit, the Center has a Board of Directors who are leaders in the community and share a common vision for the Center and a love of Italian culture. Funding is provided by generous donations from individuals, business owners, corporations, and foundations in the community.
Their mission is: to encourage participation in the Italian language, arts, and culture, through lectures, presentations, films, study groups, classes and other events and activities; to become the hub of cultural activities in the Intermountain West by providing facilities, instructors, and lecturers for people interested in Italian culture; and to promote the awareness of Italian-American involvement in shaping the past, present and future of the region.
