Section 1: Gardener safety and training

Start with open communication and the creation of health safety policies as a group. Regular communication about plans and check-ins with staff members to help ensure that everyone is compliant with the plans and encourage a culture of openness and honesty. Regularly remind staff members about why these safety plans are so important. Remind all visitor that these safety measures are an act of community care and protect all members, especially those who are at higher risk for contracting COVID-19.

Section 2: Maintaining physical distance in the garden

Invite visitors to leave the gardens if they are coughing, sneezing, and experiencing all the major COVID-19 symptoms.

Section 3: Handwashing, minimizing high-touch surface use, and physical distancing

COVID-19 virus is spread primarily through person-to-person contact between an infected person and another person. We’ll remind staff and visitors to maintain adequate physical distance between individuals and encouraging people to wash their hands regularly and use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when handwashing is not available.
