Chamber Orchestra Ogden Concert

Chamber Orchestra Ogden Concert

Presented by Chamber Orchestra Ogden and Peery's Egyptian Theater at Peery's Egyptian Theater

The concert will begin with Mozart's Overture to Don Giovanni. Although the opera is sometimes classified as Opera Buffa (comic opera), it is really a mixture of comedy, drama, and supernatural elements.  Next up is Maurice Ravel's beautiful Pavane for a Dead Princess. Ravel explained that this pavane wasn't mourning a princess who died, but a wistful daydream of something a sixteenth-century Spanish princess might have danced to.

Our next offering will be the first set of four Slavonic Dances, taken from the Opus 46 of Antonin Dvorak.  Our final piece will complete the orchestra introduction as we play Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, narrated by Dr. Carey Campbell from the WSU music faculty.  Come experience the individual orchestra instruments demonstrated by our musicians at 6:30 in the south breezeway corridor of the theater.
