Michael A Palumbo

Presented by Chamber Orchestra Ogden and Peery's Egyptian Theater at Peery's Egyptian Theater

American composer Libby Larsen’s Overture for the End of a Century will open the concert.  Larsen is one of America’s most performed living composers.  This will be followed by one of Alexander Borodin’s best-known works, In the Steppes of Central Asia.  During his lifetime Borodin was a part of the “Mighty Five” Russian composers in the 19th century.

The Ballade in a minor, Opus 33 is one of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s most popular compositions.  It is a powerful piece that leaves no doubt that the 23-year-old composer would make his mark in the world as a composer.

The final work on this concert is Alfonso Tenreiro’s brilliant Piano Concerto No.1, with Nicholas Maughan as the piano soloist.
