Armed Forces Day Concert 2024

Armed Forces Day Concert 2024

Presented by Choral Arts Society of Utah at The Gallivan Center

SALT LAKE CITY – Music Director Sterling Poulson and the Choral Arts Society of Utah invite you to an evening dedicated to honoring our men and women in the Armed Forces. It is a free event, and parking is free under the plaza. This community-focused event honors our men and women in uniform past and present. Bring your family and enjoy plenty of food, fun, support service booths and great entertainment. The evening entertainment begins at 4:30 p.m. with the 23rd Army rock combo Article 15.  The band and choir concert follow with patriotic favorites, concluding with a rousing rendition of John Philip Sousa’s Stars & Stripes Forever. We are thrilled to welcome the Utah Military Academy Choir to our concert this year. The Utah Department of Veterans and Military Affairs will honor outstanding service members and employees from military units across Utah.

The Utah Military Academy prepares cadets as leaders to thrive in any competitive environment upon graduation with a focus on entrance into the military academies, ROTC scholarship programs in colleges and universities or other technically challenging opportunities related to the military culture. All of which result in maximizing their potential throughout life. They also have a vigorous music program, including Choir, band, jazz band, orchestra, pop & rock bands, ukulele ensembles, and mariachi.

The Utah National Guard 23rd Army Band is celebrating 100 years this year, and has played for Presidents, Senators, Congressmen, and Heads of State.  It gives clinics and concerts for schools, plays at civic functions, marches in parades, and provides music for military balls, changes of command, and pass-in-reviews. The rock combo Article 15 will make you smile no matter what generation you hail from.
