A contemporary dance/opera production featuring 15 local and International artists, original choreography by Charlotte Boye-Christensen on 3 dancers, 2 opera singers and 3 musicians, original live music and design.
On July 27, 28, and 29, fifteen local and international performers– dancers, musicians, and two opera singers– will guide you through NOW-ID’s summer production: EXODUS.
EXODUS is the Utah-based international dance/design company’s most current amalgamation of genre and geography, and will be performed for just three nights in Salt Lake City. The work will explore the nature of “exodus” – a mass movement, its cyclical qualities and layers, a coming together in hope and longing both in spite of and because of diversity.
NOW-ID’’s mission is to present forward thinking, innovative and encompassing work for both artists and audience, work that grows from specific sites and in collaboration with local, national, and international partners from a range of creative fields. EXODUS makes good on that promise, with opera singers and musicians who create amazing work on the international stage. Participating artists include award-winning theater director, Rolf Heim, Danish mezzosoprano Nana Bugge Rasmussen, Bass-Baritone Jakob Bloch Jespersen, as well as Ballet West principal ballerina Katherine Lawrence, Ballet West Dancer Adrian Fry and Tara McArthur among others. The production features an original contemporary music score, script, poetry and dance.
