Utah native Florence Ellen Ware studied art at the University of Utah with Edwin Evans, at the Art Institute of Chicago, privately in the art colony at Laguna Beach, California, and elsewhere. Beginning in 1918, with time out for travel and further study in Europe and North Africa, Ware enjoyed a long career with the University of Utah art department and the University’s Extension Division as an instructor until her retirement in 1956. She was active as a muralist and as a set and costume designer, as well as being a popular and prolific easel painter. Her paintings and other works are included in important public, private, and corporate collections in Utah.
