B.Y. (Bertram Youth) Andelin of Richfield and Ogden, Utah, was a painter, educator, and scenery painter-designer who attended the University of Utah (1912-16), Utah State University, and in Los Angeles, the University of Southern California, Chouinard Art Institute, and the Otis College of Art and Design. He taught art in the Richfield Public Schools, Juab County Jr. High, Ogden High School, and part-time at Weber State College. Andelin was a skilled depicter of traditional landscape scenes in oil and watercolor as well as the painter and designer of countless sets for virtually all of his city’s dramatic productions and civic celebrations. He was an important advocate for the arts in Ogden.
