The Centerville Branch opened on March 11, 2006. Its collection of approximately 40,000 books has an emphasis on high use items such as children’s books, audio-visual items like DVDs and audio books, and popular adult material. The building has some design elements taken from historic buildings in Centerville. The front door features a circular arch modeled after the front door of an old school in Centerville that no longer exists. The library has a display that shows the older buildings that were used as elements in the design. The construction of the Centerville Library has benefited from a generous grant from the Simmons Family Trust that has been used for decorative elements, such as stained glass windows in the children’s area that illustrate well-known children’s stories. The children’s area also has a giant tree in one corner that spreads out into the room.
