Crowning Achievement: Mass in B Minor
Presented by Salt Lake Choral Artists at Libby Gardner Hall - University of Utah
May 14, 2011
The B Minor Mass was most likely never performed in its entirety during Johann Sebastian Bach's lifetime. Though this masterpiece largely disappeared in the 18th century, performances of the piece in the 19th century sparked a revival of both the piece and a re-discovery of Bach's music. Today, Bach's B Minor Mass is considered a supreme masterpiece of Western music and widely hailed as a monumental work of the late Baroque period.
