Salt Lake Film Society is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated Part Time Development Associate to assist on site with our end of year membership drive and events. This position reports to the Associate Director of Development. While on duty, this individual would be primarily responsible for managing the membership kiosk, but will also recruit, train, schedule, and supervise Development volunteers for the pre-show announcement component of the drive, handle all outgoing membership mailings, coordinate membership fulfillment, perform database cleanup tasks, and other tasks as assigned. Shifts will be strategically scheduled to include optimal weekend coverage. We are looking for an individual who can easily grasp the details of the Red Carpet Club program and effectively communicate with patrons to help spread awareness of and increase participation in the program.

Qualifications:

  • Have at least one year of nonprofit development experience focusing on individual giving or membership OR have a strong background in direct sales and marketing with a track record of meeting sales goals.
  • Be adept in database software use (preferably DonorPerfect or another cloud-based system such as SalesForce) and have experience operating a point of sale register.
  • Be proficient in MS Word and Excel and have experience running mail merges.
  • Be well organized, outgoing, comfortable talking to patrons one on one and in front of a group.
  • Be self-motivated and able to organize and prioritize a secondary workflow during down time without direct supervision.
  • Be effective at recruiting, training, and scheduling volunteers as well as supervising 1-2 volunteers at a time.
  • Be available to work up to 29 hours a week between October 1 and December 31, 2019, including two weekday afternoon/evening shifts and two of the three “weekend” shifts (Friday 1-8PM, Saturday 1-8PM, Sunday 12-5PM. Schedule may vary from week to week. (This includes peak holiday and weekend hours).

Job Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

  • With minimal supervision, operate the SLFS Red Carpet Club membership kiosk, interfacing with the public, selling the membership program–including gift membership options, and accurately processing and fulfilling membership and other donor transactions.
  • Making short, scripted pre-show announcements to the audience in the theaters in support of the Red Carpet Club drive.
  • Cultivating, training, scheduling, and supervising a core group of volunteers who will also be making pre-show announcements throughout the drive.
  • Support staff during 2 special events.
  • Prepare donor renewal mail merges, data entry/cleanup tasks, and other Development office support duties as assigned.

This position is part time (limited to 29 hours per week), seasonal (October 1 through December 31, 2019), and temporary. However, based on the success of the candidate and the need for ongoing support after December 31, an offer of ongoing employment after the seasonal contract ends may be a possibility.
