Childcare Provider Appreciation Day

On Thursday, June 11, from 9:30 am. to 2:30 p.m., Children’s Service Society will hold its 10th annual Care About Childcare Provider Appreciation Event at “This Is The Place Heritage Park,” 2601 East Sunnyside Avenue, Salt Lake City.

“Every day, child care workers licensed by the Utah Department of Health care for more than 24,000 children under the age of five in the state,” said Encarni Gallardo, executive director of Children’s Service Society. “This event is a fun way to acknowledge and celebrate the daily efforts of child care providers who work tirelessly to improve the lives of Utah children.”

In the United States, Provider Appreciation Day takes place for the entire month of May each year. The day was designated in 1996 as a way to show appreciation for the often overlooked childcare work force.  It is estimated that there are nearly 2.8 million child care providers in the United States and that more than 11 million children under 5 are in their care.

Childcare Provider Appreciation Day is free for childcare providers and the children in their care. Activities include train rides, a petting corral, crafts, pony rides, refreshments and door prizes. For more information or for  tickets, RSVP by calling (801) 326-4374 or (801) 326-4373.
