Former ‘60 Minutes’ producer Mary Mapes to speak on March 30 at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah

We are excited to announce that we will be bringing Award-Winning Journalist Mary Mapes to campus March 30, 2020.

While working for 60 Minutes and CBS legend Dan Rather, Mary Mapes broke the story that exposed abuses of prisoners at a CIA-run prison in Abu Ghraib, Afghanistan. For that work, she won a Peabody Award, one of broadcast journalism’s highest honors. Later in 2004, she broke the story about President George W. Choreographer; Dancer; Musician; UDAM Teaching Artist | Katie regularly performs throughout Utah with her cuadro which includes: Jake Abbott (guitar and cante), Sandy Meek (guitar), and Julie Sheen (cajon and palmas). While growing up in Utah she studied jazz, ballet, tap and hip-hop. After moving to Baltimore, Maryland for graduate school she fell in love with Flamenco after taking her first Sevillanas class. She studied with Solange Gomes for several years in Salt Lake City and most recently she lived in Sevilla, Spain where she studied with many flamenco maestros, including Luisa Palacio, Angel Atienza, Isabel Bayon and Javier Baron.
