People Productions presents the American premiere of Vivienne Franzmann’s THE WITNESS–a chilling story of family, love, deception, and death–at the Sugar Space Arts Warehouse.
The Witness begins with a famous photograph from the 1994 Rwanda Genocide. A crying baby reaches across a pile of slaughtered bodies toward her dead mother. Eighteen years later, the girl–who was adopted by the photographer and raised in a London suburb–finds the original negative and discovers that it was cropped. Something is missing from the original picture. Almost simultaneously, a young man arrived, claiming to be her brother. Is he? What was cut out of the original picture?View more
