The UMFA exhibition is part of the Spike 150 partnership of Utah organizations that are celebrating the anniversary of the Golden Spike ceremony.

This major traveling exhibition celebrates the 150th anniversary of the “Meeting of the Rails” at Promontory Summit, Utah, on May 10, 1869, through the photographs and stereographs of Andrew Joseph Russell (1830–1902) and Alfred A. Hart (1816–1908). Drawn exclusively from the Union Pacific Historic Collection at the Union Pacific Railroad Museum, these images represent the largest collection in the world of original photographs documenting the construction of the transcontinental

KATIE SHEEN ABBOTT

Choreographer; Dancer; Musician; UDAM Teaching Artist | Katie regularly performs throughout Utah with her cuadro which includes: Jake Abbott (guitar and cante), Sandy Meek (guitar), and Julie Sheen (cajon and palmas). While growing up in Utah she studied jazz, ballet, tap and hip-hop. After moving to Baltimore, Maryland for graduate school she fell in love with Flamenco after taking her first Sevillanas class. She studied with Solange Gomes for several years in Salt Lake City and most recently she lived in Sevilla, Spain where she studied with many flamenco maestros, including Luisa Palacio, Angel Atienza, Isabel Bayon and Javier Baron.
