The Salt Lake Children’s Choir will celebrate Christmas this year with a special 2020 online video presentation of selections from past performances from the Cathedral of the Madeleine. The video will be available Sunday, Dec. 20 at 7 PM
and can be accessed through the choir’s website, www.childrensing.org.
Although the presentation will be drawn from different years, it will flow in traditional sequence–beginning with the choir singing from the rear loft. Featured will be music of early masters, carols–old and new–from many lands (including “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming, “Angels o’er the Fields,” .”While by My Sheep,” and “Il est né le divin Enfant”)–as well as several popular written especially for the choir. (Accompaniment will be by harpist Lysa Rytting and organits Ken Udy.) As in all performances over the years, the choir will invite audience and choir alumni to combine in several carol favorites–which will conclude the program (It is hoped that viewers at home will also join in).
This special 2020 presentation is the Salt Lake Children’s Choir’s way of honoring the Season–as well as continuing the choir’s long tradition (begun in 1984) of presenting beautiful Christmas performances in the Cathedral of the Madeleine.
