Music Without Borders

Borders come in different forms: some are physical, able to be torn down brick-by-brick. Others are not so easy to see, yet these relatively invisible social borders are just as capable of being deconstructed once we recognize them. This concert will bring to light some of those invisible societal borders faced by musicians and composers who found themselves walled off due to their gender, sexual identity, nationality, politics, and/or religion. DAVID HABBEN

Graphic Designer; UDAM Teaching Artist | David received his BFA in Illustration from Brigham Young University in 2006. In 2008, he became one of the first illustrators to become a Children’s Book Design Fellow at Chronicle Books in San Francisco. For the next eight years, David continued to work as an illustrator and designer, both in-house and freelance. Then, In 2017, he earned his MFA in Studio Art, with a Graphic Design emphasis, from The University of Utah.
