The Helper Project is partnering with Donna Poulton, a renowned Utah Art Historian to curate an Artist Exhibition. The inspiration being Historic Helper, the train, the routes and the landscape.

May 3 – August 2, 2019

Founded in the 1890’s and the site of Butch Cassidy’s first robbery, Helper is one of the most important historical and culturally diverse small towns in Utah with an exceptional community spirit. Most of the citizens in Helper have strong ties to the past. Their extraordinary characters have been chiseled from their connection to the Mining and Railroad industries and most recently to the Arts. KATIE SHEEN ABBOTT

Choreographer; Dancer; Musician; UDAM Teaching Artist | Katie regularly performs throughout Utah with her cuadro which includes: Jake Abbott (guitar and cante), Sandy Meek (guitar), and Julie Sheen (cajon and palmas). While growing up in Utah she studied jazz, ballet, tap and hip-hop. After moving to Baltimore, Maryland for graduate school she fell in love with Flamenco after taking her first Sevillanas class. She studied with Solange Gomes for several years in Salt Lake City and most recently she lived in Sevilla, Spain where she studied with many flamenco maestros, including Luisa Palacio, Angel Atienza, Isabel Bayon and Javier Baron.
