The 125th Annual White Mesa Bear Dance is scheduled for August 29th, 30th, 31st, & September 1st, 2014 on the White Mesa Reservation. This joyous celebration is sponsored by the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe.
The Bear Dance was first recorded by the Spanish in the 1500's. It is based on a legend of two brothers who went hunting. One of them watched a bear as it danced with a tree. Driving instructions: Drive to White Mesa Utah, turn east off of Highway 191 onto Wood Pile Road. Then turn right on Beaver Lane. Then a left turn through the entrance gate. Signs will be posted to help.
